Northern NSW Home of the Year Morr Homes and Projects

Northern NSW Home of the Year Morr Homes and Projects

Home of the Year

2022 HIA Northern NSW Housing Awards

Winner: Morr Homes and Projects

Boldly embracing its steep sloping site, this contemporary home impresses with an arresting display of sleek modern finishes against a palette of raw materials. The exterior’s chestnut-hued blackbutt timber panelling richly contrasts with charcoal cladding and reclaimed brickwork that houses the lower levels.

Cleverly designed for its tropical beachside climate, a raised roof over the living area not only offers space and volume but features thoughtfully placed louvre windows that allow for cross ventilation and light penetration. Double-glazed windows, polished concrete flooring and the surprising accents of rammed earth also help to control the ambient temperatures within. The high level of quality workmanship is evident in the custom joinery details throughout, from the floating staircase and panelled ceilings to the timber-framed windows and wraparound bench seating which maximise ocean views and provide a connection to the surrounding rainforest fringe.
