Outdoor Project

HIA Sunshine Coast/Wide Bay Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards

Winner: Dayne Lawrie Constructions

'THE BARN' set in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The form of the building sits perfectly amongst its surrounding landscape. Large sliding doors open up to an amphitheatre of natural gum trees with the outdoor area and pool positioned below. The large pool with wet edge was carefully considered and set out to work with full tiles. Sitting at the pools edge on the imported natural stone tiles watching the beautiful sunsets each night is a truly peaceful experience. The outdoor area recycled beams and battens are carefully set-out and includes an acrylic ceiling behind to allow light to pass through into the outdoor space. The BBQ and seating area showcases off form concrete that had weeks of preparation work to produce the quality of finish you see. Natural fire places have been created using the same glass house mountain stone as in the house walls. The project presented endless challenges and hurdles which tested everyone's skill and problem-solving skills to overcome. Anyone who has the pleasure to visit the property is in awe of its large presence, finest details and beauty. Months of planning and obsessing over every detail in my mind came to fruition in the end and was a humbling experience to stand back and take it in when finished.
