Home of the Year
HIA Victorian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards
Winner: Grollo Homes
Located on the site of a former manor house in Harkaway, the goal for this new build was to recapture the sense of timeless elegance that once defined the property. The facade evokes classical architecture. Inside, one wing contains an office, theatre room, mud room and the outdoor kitchen and living space. The other wing contains five bedrooms, all with walk-in robes, and the kitchen, family and great room sit in between.
Multiple skylights bring natural light to all areas of the home, and expansive glazing captures stunning views to the rear. All the hallmarks of modern luxury living have been integrated into this home, as have sustainable technologies such as rooftop solar, heat pumps and rainwater harvesting. In selecting this project for Victorian Home of the Year, the judges recognised Grollo Homes for successfully executing on a grand scale, while also demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to every detail.
From the coffered ceilings to the arched doorways to the extensive, flawless application of stone, all trades have completed their work to the highest of standards. This home was the final design of the late Luigi Grollo, and the finished product's seamless blend of classical style and contemporary living is an outstanding, fitting testament to his vision.
