HIA Victorian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards

Located in Separation Creek, this home was designed and built with an overarching philosophy of balancing aesthetic and environmental response.

The home is essentially moulded into the steep slope of its block, with a clever design by Crosier Scott Architects that preserves and celebrates the site's breathtaking views.

Concrete, Corten cladding, Colorbond and Alucobond combine in a low-maintenance exterior that blends perfectly with the home's surroundings. Inside burnished concrete floors, solid timber and high-end finishes deliver everything one could expect from a contemporary luxury home.

This project came with an extreme degree of difficulty: over 1000 tonnes of concrete needed to be poured, on a very steep site with limited access. The builder's handling of every aspect of this project impressed the judges, from the biggest technical and logistical challenges, down to the smallest of details. Care, attention to detail and an uncompromising focus on quality is on full display at every turn.

The grain matching on the kitchen cabinetry, the detailing on the solid timber feature panels, and the multiple uses of in-situ concrete are just a few examples. Hydronic in-slab heating, premium appliances, extensive integrated technology and a 600-bottle wine cellar are the icing on the cake for this home that perfectly balances luxury living with the laid-back coastal lifestyle.
