Course overview
This course assists those who are responsible for overseeing the construction and installation of roof trusses on site. Students will learn about the forces applied onto trusses and the fixing methods required to resist them, including tie downs and bracing. Content also focuses on terminologies used by carpenters when describing aspects of roof trusses as well as the safety measures needed to safely administer their installation on site.
You will learn about:
- development application and approval processes including authorised inspections and certification
- the correct use and understanding of wall and roof framing plans, provided by Keith Timber Group using the latest computer generated technology from Pryda Australia which clearly separates wall and roof framing while at the same time clearly highlighting precise construction details, timber sizes, bracing and tie downs
- as a “Bonus offer” those attending this HIA course will receive tuition in the Work Health & Safety Code of Practice Prevention of Falls in Housing in relation to roof framing.
Participants who successfully complete this 6 hour course will be issued with a Statement of Completion and a wallet sized HIA plastic identification card containing an identifying number, which will be provided to the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI). Those successful participants with a Building Works Supervisors Licence for Residential Building Work or Carpentry will then be authorised to sign the required supervisor’s checklist.
