The HIA Charitable Foundation (HIACF) was founded in 2012 to improve health and welfare outcomes, homelessness, and tackle mental health in our industry.
In particular, the Foundation has focused on supporting those who suffer from mesothelioma – an asbestos-related illness that is caused by inhaling asbestos fibres and educating our industry of the danger of handling asbestos containing materials.
In partnership with Beyond Blue, we are committed to the mental health issues that affect one in four people in the residential construction industry. Our industry can be unpredictable, with extreme highs and lows. So it is not surprising there is a high incidence of anxiety, depression, substance abuse and when left unsupported – suicide.
Funded by members, the HIA Charitable Foundation assists charitable and community causes by harnessing the support of the residential building industry.
There is a range of ways for you and your organisation to support the HIA Charitable Foundation and its selected causes.
Here is how you can show your support:
If you would like to support the foundation but aren’t sure where to start, contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
To date, the Foundation has donated over $1 Million to charities providing much-needed funds for specific research into mesothelioma, shelter for the homeless, and funding into mental health research and improvement.
Your support helps to fund much needed research into the health and wellbeing of those involved in the residential building industry through grant opportunities to best practice research organisations.
If you would like to donate, please call the Charitable Foundation or drop us an email.
All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
The HIA Charitable Foundation wishes to acknowledge and thank our supporters.
