Be a part of something bigger, challenge yourself and get stuck in the action. Be ambitious. Be job ready.

Australia needs more builders, landscapers, carpenters, and qualified tradespeople – like you – who will stand the test of time. In an industry with no shortage of opportunity; start out in a Trade, dream big and work your way to the top.

The Housing Industry Association (HIA) and Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) are partnering together to offer a Trade Ready Program as the first step in a career in the Building and Construction industry on the Gold Coast. Whether you are a young or mature age student, get a head start for your career in 6 weeks (3 weeks of face-to-face learning and 3 weeks work experience).

This pre-employment program will help you develop your skillset and experience, offering:

  • further job readiness and work preparation
  • selected construction short courses to build skills and employability
  • valuable industry-led work experience
  • successful participants have the opportunity to connect directly with employers. 

The building and construction industry is hands-on, fast-paced and where you’ll find some of your greatest mates.

Who is the program for?

The program encourages young and mature age people to get the experience to join the Construction Industry.

How much is it?

The program is fully funded by CSQ. This will include course fees and a Ready-for-Work Kit (safety glasses, hi vis shirts, ear muffs, voucher for safety boots and other PPE).

Eligibility requirements

  • An Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia
  • Permanently reside in Queensland
  • Not an apprentice or employed in the building and construction industry
  • Certificate I in Construction (Desirable)
  • Driver's Licence
  • Access to a vehicle
  • You may be required to submit a resume
