Winner: Aria Property Group, Queensland

Aria Property Group in Queensland was awarded the 2019 HIA Australian Outdoor Project in the company of hundreds of residential building professionals from across the country at the prestigious HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards ceremony in Perth on 25 May.

The winning project offers cascading gardens street-side, giving a taste of what’s to come on the rooftop terrace of its Brisbane-based apartment complex, Oxley & Stirling.

A path of stepping stones through the central water feature leads to a timber deck and informal dining booths, with formal seating available on one side and a large pool on the other. Sunken below the main area amid a jungle of greenery, dozens of secluded spaces are decked out with sun lounges and bean bags so residents can relax and enjoy their comfort in privacy, even on busy days.

Aria Property Group also took out the 2019 HIA Australian Apartment Complex award for Oxley & Stirling.

The HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards are the ultimate platform to showcase the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers.

HIA Managing Director Graham Wolfe said the Association is committed to recognising those members that don't conform to boundaries, instead choosing designs that boast innovation and ingenuity. Winners are selected from state-based finalists, with awards in 22 separate categories.

The Outdoor Project category criteria is for the design, installation and project coordination of a swimming pool, spa, outdoor structure or landscaping project in a residential context.

Queensland won three national housing awards in total, including the Apartment Complex, Outdoor Project and Kitchen of the Year categories.
