Behind its modernist-inspired facade is a contemporary and practical family home which won New South Wales’ Construction By Design the title of 2022 HIA Australian Project Home winner.
The open-plan layout positions the living areas between the central courtyard and outdoors, connecting the outside and in. The double-volume ceilings instantly give a sense of spaciousness, and the full-height glazing floods the home with natural light.
On the ground floor is a self-contained guest room, and from above are four generous bedrooms, a leisure area and a gallery looking down on the courtyard.
Judges commended the quality finishes and detail throughout, balanced facade elements and a timeless material palette. They acknowledged the dynamic and flexible design, allowing customisation to suit individual requirements.
The acknowledgement was made during the 2022 HIA–CSR Australian Housing Awards presentation on 23 April at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.
The HIA Australian Project Home category, partnered by The Australian Reinforcing Company recognises individual homes based on a display home, sales brochure or the like for a repeatable design, tailored to suit the needs of the client and the site.
New South Wales HIA members were the recipients of five national awards this year, including Professional Major Builder, Project Home, Kitchen Design, Renovation / Addition Project and HIA Apprentice Host Trainer.
