Craving a dose of inspiration? Keen to improve your business-building skills? Ready to meet like-minded people in stunning venues?
Look no further! The annual HIA National Conference is a premier event that features experts, decision-makers and manufacturers within the residential building industry. It’s an opportunity to learn what’s next for housing and gain new business-building skills.
Taking place on 15-17 May, the conference invites you to some of Melbourne’s most dazzling venues – from grand ballrooms to sleek event spaces. You’ll have the chance to mingle – and network – with kindred professionals in your field at special social events that range from happy hour to a networking party.
The grand finale is the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards, a major event in the residential building industry’s calendar. This is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and high achievements of those nominated.
Some of the not-to-miss events at the conference include:
HIA Conference Expo: This two-day event is a lively and diverse showcase of the sector’s best builders and brands. With plenty of time to meet and mingle, this is an opportunity to build new relationships with key members of the industry.
HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards: Concluding the three-day conference, the awards night is one of the country’s most talked-about events in the industry. The MC, comedian Peter Hellier, will set the scene. Winning entries from major categories will celebrate at a star-studded gala dinner.
Don’t miss our Building Business Sessions, the informative workshops that can help you meet the challenges faced at each stage of your business life cycle. These sessions equip you with the latest tools and techniques in the residential building industry.
Here are three workshops on offer:
Facilitated by Jen Bishop who runs The Interiors Addict, the workshop covers everything from architectural styles and colour palettes to furniture arrangements and eco-friendly solutions. It will offer valuable insights for industry professionals.
This session will be led by HIA’s Chief Executive Industry and Policy, Simon Croft, and leading building technology experts discussing where Australia’s construction is heading. It looks at what’s happening internationally, what will future building consist of and what are the key new tools in the market that are changing the way builders deliver homes.
This workshop won’t want to be missed. HIA’s Executive Director Building Policy, Shane Keating, will go through common FAQs and challenging scenarios, providing the answers and correct ways to read and interpret the rules. The workshop will also provide an update on NCC 2025 and what’s changing to get ahead of the pack.

Meet our three keynote speakers: digital media and marketing entrepreneur Jules Lund, cycling legend Anna Meares, and engineer/economist/entrepreneur Simon Griffiths. Find out more about these speaker.
Jules Lund: Once a renowned TV and radio host, Jules found his calling when he dipped into the fields of digital media and marketing. More than a decade ago, he launched his own tech company, TRIBE – a digital marketplace that connects influencers with leading brands.
Now influencers who have built audiences around their passion or expertise can submit and get paid for posts featuring products they already use and love.
Jules’ social insights have since made him a unique asset, being invited around the globe to present to the world’s biggest agencies and brands on future trends in marketing.
Anna Meares: Recognised as Australia’s greatest cyclist, Anna is now the leader in Australian sports administration. During her illustrious cycling career, she won two Olympic gold medals and three silver medals. She’s also the first and only Australian athlete from any sport to have won individual medals at four consecutive Olympic Games.
After retiring in 2016, Anna transitioned to sports commentary and public speaking, inspiring audiences with her stories of resilience. In 2021, she was appointed Chef de Mission for the Australian Olympic Team, supporting and mentoring athletes. Anna also advocates for women in sport and promotes health and fitness initiatives.
Simon Griffiths: In 2007 Simon turned down a successful corporate career to immerse himself in his true passion: development aid. He soon had the idea to start a toilet paper company that uses profits to build toilets in the developing world.
In 2012, he launched Who Gives a Crap with a crowdfunding campaign, agreeing to sit on a toilet on a live webfeed until he had pre-sold the first $50,000 of toilet rolls. In just over 10 years, Who Gives a Crap has donated more than $10 million.
