Freedom to Torque

While extensive travel is off the cards, for now, when it comes time to put down the tools, how about bursts of adventures in your own backyard, with a cool link to legacy?

We all know that running a business takes grit and tenacity. You have a team to run, clients to please, and paperwork to attend to unless, of course, you are fortunate enough to have a business partner who helps with the admin load. All of this before you even source materials, pick up a tool or break ground. So it is little wonder that you crave freedom when it comes time to knock off.

However, with international and some interstate travel restrictions in place, escaping the daily grind to explore exotic destinations or even see loved ones, is off the cards for many. But, staying close to home is the ideal opportunity to take to the road and discover new experiences.

Sunshine and serotonin

For a lot of Australia, we have had a fair share of lockdown life. With limited freedom, comes the risk of falling into a funk.

Motorcycle riding delivers a couple of deep rooted solutions to the blues, not only access to sunshine, but with the twist of the wrist a release of adrenaline, and its feel good endocrine cousin endorphin. Add to this enhanced cognitive function by using different parts of the brain while concentrating and it is no wonder motorcycle riding can be a mood enhancer. *

Now add in Australia’s rugged terrain, picturesque regional towns and insta-worthy coastline and beaches and you have enviable destinations in abundance. With so much to see, when you are ready to hit the road and take a well-deserved break from business, the last thing you want to compromise on is luxury and style.

Heritage and the highway

When you hit the highway to escape the hustle and bustle, you want to feel relaxed and at ease immediately. There is no better way to do so than with the wind in your face and the road under your wheels on the back of the stylish BMW R 18 motorcycle.

The bike is superbly designed with hints of 1930s nostalgia and has all the hallmarks of an instant classic. Borrowing elements from famous models such as the BMW R5, the R 18 shifts the focus back onto motorcycle essentials.

The cruiser, a purist bike fully equip with the latest technology and a supersized twin boxer engine, is luxurious in its design. The pillion passenger seating has been designed with stylish comfort in mind, connecting the riders to the body of the bike. Perfect when exploring the countryside with a companion.

Blending modern technology with authentic materials, the anodised body of the bike has an elaborately crafted double-loop steel tube frame and exposed drive-shaft based on the classic role model.

Integrated safety features include state-of-the-art LED lighting technology and adaptive turning light for even better illumination of the road when cornering. These have been reinterpreted in keeping with the iconic style of classic motorcycles.

No detail has been overlooked with hand-painted pinstriping, a striking black teardrop tank and enamel tank badges that are pure class. Beyond its aesthetics, the BMW boxer engine is the most potent of all time, with a capacity of 1802 cc – now we are torquing!

Both its impressive appearance and its technology reflect a continuation of the traditional air-cooled boxer engines that have offered an inspiring riding experience since BMW Motorrad began in 1923.

Don’t be fooled by the size and pulling power of this motorcycle. The harmonious ergonomics enables a relaxed and active riding position for optimum vehicle control, handling and cornering.

Legendary legacy

Boasting an illustrious history of automotive excellence, BMW is renowned for quality and has made a name for itself in precision engineering. The creation of the R 18 is no exception to this legendary legacy when it comes to luxury performance vehicles.

Like no other BMW motorcycle before it, this model stands entirely in the tradition of historical BMW motorcycles – both technically and in terms of design style. So it is no surprise that when comparing premium motorcycles, the BMW R 18 stands apart from the crowd.

When you seek freedom from your busy business obligations – the throttle, the thrill and the road awaits.

Let passion override you

BMW is offering HIA Members purchasing the R 18 Motorcycle a $5,000 bonus towards accessories and BMW Motorrad Service Inclusive for all corporate customers.
