The night was charged with anticipation at the 2025 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards in Melbourne. But for Better Built Homes co-directors Jayden Saundercock and Aaron Gampe, it wasn’t nerves – it was pride. When their business was announced as the winner of the HIA Australian Professional Medium Builder/ Renovator award, it marked the culmination of 15 years of steady growth, resilience and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Founded in 2010 by Jayden and Aaron, Better Built Homes has grown from humble beginnings into one of NSW’s most respected building companies. It started in Jayden’s father’s study, where the pair, both carpenters at the time, laid the foundations. Today, their company spans across North & South-west Sydney, Southern Highlands, Wollongong, Central Coast and Hunter regions, with 40 staff and 126 trusted contractors.
They deal with more than 40 multi-trade teams who work solely on Better Built Homes projects.
With a strong focus on people and culture, the business invests heavily in staff training, leadership development, and creating a supportive workplace. A milestone achievement was the launch of its state-of-the-art headquarters. This 497-square-metre property has been designed to elevate its productivity and delivery.
HIA judges commended Better Built Homes for its detailed business systems, thorough financial processes, strong community involvement in charities, and forward-thinking leadership.
