For Chris Guilbert, the decision to rename his business Tenfold Homes marked a defining moment for his Perth building company. It was originally known as Guilbert Constructions, until a client declared that Chris and his team had ‘exceeded their expectations tenfold’. In that moment, Tenfold Homes was born.

The name captures the philosophy that underpins the business — doing everything better, from communication and systems to building skills and delivery. It’s a strategy that has quickly gained traction, with Chris winning the Emerging Builder honour at the recent 2026 HIA Australian Housing Awards, partnered by CSR.

Chris, who’s the founder and director of the firm, brings more than 15 years of construction experience to the business, having worked across commercial projects, carpentry supervision and high-end residential builds. That background gave him a clear understanding not only of how homes are built, but how the building process itself could be improved. In its first year, Tenfold Homes evolved from a renovation-focused operation into a boutique custom-home builder delivering projects valued at up to $1.1 million. ‘One of my proudest milestones has been leading the successful transition from renovations to full-scale new home construction,’ Chris explains.

The shift was deliberate. Chris invested heavily in the structure of the business, implementing integrated project management tools, site safety frameworks and clearly defined client processes.

‘Building today is about far more than construction,’ he says. ‘It’s about leadership, systems and trust. When clients build with us, they know the process will be clear, structured and professionally managed from day one.’

The rebrand to Tenfold Homes became a cornerstone of that vision. According to the HIA judges, the new name provides stronger resonance and positions the business for long-term growth. And Chris ‘shows true grit and authenticity in everything he does’, noted the judges.
