Winning the HIA Australian Professional Medium Builder/Renovator Award for the second time in a row marks another milestone for Better Built Homes.
Founded in 2010 by Co-directors Jayden Saundercock and Aaron Gampe, Better Built Homes has grown from a small start-up operating out of a family home into a major independent builder.
Today the company employs 40 staff and works with around 120 trade contractors, delivering homes across Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Hunter, Wollongong and the Southern Highlands.

Today the company employs 40 staff and works with around 120 trade contractors, delivering homes across Greater Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Hunter, Wollongong and the Southern Highlands.
Central to the company’s approach is a focus on team engagement and empowerment. Leadership actively encourages feedback, invests heavily in training and promotes a culture of ‘continuous and never-ending improvement’. Thanks to this support, managers across departments average eight years with the business, creating stability and shared expertise.
‘Our people are the reason we can deliver the level of service and quality we promise,’ Jayden says. ‘When the team feels supported and empowered to improve what we do every day, the whole business performs better.’

The company also stands out for its commitment to community engagement and charitable giving. Over the past decade, Better Built Homes has donated more than $183,000 to charities, while a staff-led initiative allows employees to nominate a charity to receive monthly donations.
‘Giving back is part of who we are,’ Aaron says. ‘Our team wants to make a difference, not just through the homes we build but through the communities we support.’
