HOUSING's top pick of innovative building products for November 2020.

Online health help

A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body. Bupa have joined forces with online platform This Way Up (TWU), to make their self-help courses available for customers under their Extra’s package.

The online Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) courses offer an alternative to face-to-face meetings. CBT is recognised as the best intervention for treating anxiety and depression.

TWU is an online platform that provides scientifically supported self-help courses for common mental health difficulties, such as stress, anxiety and depression. Developed by a team of mental health clinicians, the online course teaches coping skills to manage symptoms of anxiety and depression, just like you’d receive face-to-face.

Streamlined for builders

Stop and think for a moment about the systems you use in your business. Do you use a phone and a diary? What about emails and excel documents to generate quotes and manage accounts? Surely there’s a better way to manage your projects.

Databuild understands the various stages and steps involved throughout the building process as well as the pressures businesses face to remain competitive. Through Databuild software you can quickly and accurately manage pricing; generate and provide fast quotes, bills of quantities, take offs and email orders; and manage the profitability of your jobs in real time.

Contact Databuild on 1800 800 860 for a free demonstration.

Drive away

Owning a BMW is more than just owning a car; it’s experiencing wisdom, luxury and ingenuity, every day. BMW Corporate for HIA members is not just about making it easier to own a BMW, it’s about enhancing the whole driving experience. It’s also a great way to lower the cost of ownership and enjoy exclusive benefits with the purchase of a new BMW.

Visit BMW to find out how you can start a rewarding journey of the ‘Sheer Driving Pleasure’ with BMW Corporate, or visit your preferred dealership.

Premium cooling

Since 2015, Daikin Industries Ltd has supported airconditioning manufacturers to transition to using R32 refrigerant, compared to the commonly used R410A. During this time Daikin has expanded the use of R32 to a vast majority of its split system ranges, including its new R32 Premium Inverter and R32 Inverter Ducted series.

Both series feature compact indoor unit heights of 400mm for 140–160 class Premium models and 300mm for 50–100 class Inverter models, perfect for tight ceiling spaces.
Daikin says the new series of indoor units are proudly manufactured in Australia and lower the risk of environmental harm by 66 per cent.

Raising the roof

The Pryda truss installation system – Pryda SpeedTruss™ – is a new approach to roof truss installation that enables builders to work faster and safer. The clever truss assemblies, including pre-installed hinges and pre-fixed screws, join together with ease and reduce installation time by removing temporary fixing.

Pryda’s Hinge-Out system hinges the jack truss off the girder truss, ensuring the girder truss is immediately stabilised as you work. Simply position the truss, swing it out and screw it down.

With pre-installed screws, the connections are covered by the producer statement, offering peace-of-mind for the certification of your roof installation system.

The Pryda SpeedTruss™ is available only from Pryda Fabricators.

Blissful bathing

Rheem, experts in water heating, makes running a bath easier with Rheem EZiSET®. The Rheem EZiSET app allows home occupants to avoid the hassle of waiting for the preferred volume level or testing for the right bath temperature. After connecting the app to in-home Wi-Fi, users can set their ideal bath water temperature and volume, then save their favourite settings for future use – controlling bath water has never been easier.

The Rheem EZiSET module is compatible with all Rheem 12L-27L 50°C Continuous Flow models manufactured since 2018, and will need to be installed by a certified plumber.

The app is available to download on the App Store and Play Store.

Home of homewares

Australian homewares retailer Adairs – with furniture designer Mark Tuckey – has released the expanded Mark Tuckey bedding and homewares collection.

The bedlinen and soft furnishings range features notes of slate grey, deep navy and a vibrant yet earthy orange, while materials, such as linen yarn and organic cotton, offer comfort and a timeless touch of luxury.

The effortless timber designs bring a sleek and elegant colour palette to give any home a fresh and stylish update. Sophisticated and minimalistic in design, the furniture pieces, including a headboard and bedside table, are crafted from solid European Oak.

This high-quality collection comprises versatile pieces that will suit every home and room.

Grand designs

Wideline Windows & Doors’ new architectural Atrium Entry Door will add grandeur, character and maximise street appeal on any home. Take a closer look at the impressive selection of custom design options, including vertical or horizontal chair rail configurations, glass panel choices and a sophisticated range of architectural hardware. This new statement entrance door will set the scene for a home’s interior and exterior style.

Choose a powdercoat or wood effect finish to achieve the natural beauty of timber, with the ease and durability of aluminium.

Available in panel widths ≤1200mm and panel height ≤ 2400, the product meets Bushfire Attack Level BAL40.

Urbane drain

Designed to eliminate the ‘trip-and-slip’ hazards of step-down partitions, Stormtech’s threshold drain delivers uninterrupted access between indoor and outdoor living areas.

The external linear grate sits flush beside the door track, integrating elegantly into sliding door tracks, bi-folds or hinged doors. An integrated and concealed subsill collects water flows and condensation around the doorway, conveying it to the external drainage system.

The Stormtech drains are compatible with major door manufacturers and available in seven different styles of grate designs. Stormtech’s skilled specialists work closely with specifiers, architects and builders to offer tailored drainage solutions fit for purpose.

The power of paper

Wallpaper is a great way to personalise and add intrigue to a space. However, due to the materials used in wallpaper, it isn’t a suitable option for areas of the home that produce excess moisture. Instabilelab now offers wallpaper in different fabrics that are designed to withstand wet and humid areas.

The wide selection of unique graphics can be installed on walls, floors and ceilings in the bathroom. The Fibratex wallpaper is waterproof and can be installed on walls in shower spaces without worry of mould growth. The TexFloor collection is designed for installation on the floor, withstanding bathroom conditions and foot traffic.

Curves are back

The comeback of curves has become prevalent in the world of architecture and interior design over the past couple of years, and it’s easy to see why. Curves remind us of the fluidity of nature, and add strength and flexibility to a design.

With Knauf’s CurveShield, you can set your imagination free. CurveShield is a thin 6mm internal wall and ceiling lining that allows you to incorporate beautiful and super tight curves. The product enables very tightly contoured constructions, such as walls, ceilings, columns, archways and stairways, to be created in residential and commercial applications. Easy to install, CurveShield is a great design solution for concave and convex surfaces.

Draft in glass

The new glassdraftAir by Siemens impresses with its powerful and innovative downdraft extractor accompanied by an LED light show. The extractor is hidden in the cooktop directly behind the hob for a more space-saving option to traditional rangehoods.

glassdraftAir automatically adjusts its output to the amount of haze with the help of the Siemens air quality sensor iQDrive. From performance to looks, the downdraft has it all with the built in emotionLight Pro that illuminates the edge of the glass panel with its nine pre-installed colours. Additionally, the Home Connect app allows for further colour personalisation and access to a wide range of other functions, including notifications for filter changes.
