Clipsal: Proven to perform

Clipsal: Proven to perform

For a decade, Clipsal’s Iconic range of switches and power points is not only convenient, efficient and award winning; it creates the standard for the modern Australian home.

There is something special about a home that is beautiful and makes life just that little bit easier. From switches to power points, to smart home solutions, for 10 years Clipsal Iconic has reshaped expectations of what a wiring device can be.

Innovation has always been in Clipsal’s DNA. In fact, since 1920, Clipsal has consistently introduced new ideas that have changed the way Australians live and work.

Iconic represents the next chapter in that legacy. While the products have evolved, the mission remains the same: making electrical installation easier, faster, safer and smarter.

Mick Burgon, Product Manager at Schneider Electric, says the company’s aim has always been to find a way to combine aesthetics and simplification of connected technology. ‘We launched Clipsal’s Iconic to modernise what homes can expect in the wiring device category,’ he explains. ‘But you don’t launch a product once, you need to make sure products constantly evolve through improvements and customer-led innovations.’

For a decade, Clipsal’s Iconic range creates the standard for the modern Australian home.
The range is available from one to six gangs to suit every room and situation.

Contemporary and customised

Since the Iconic range launched in 2016, it has constantly evolved through new finishes and aesthetic options. The beauty of the finishing touch is important, so the range is designed with smooth curved edges and a matt finish. Colours currently available include Vivid White, Extra White, Cool Grey, Anthracite and Extra Black.

Iconic is available in four styles to suit every home: Iconic, Iconic Styl, Iconic Essence and Iconic Outdoor. The range is available from one to six gangs to suit every room and situation. One clever element is the ability to change cover plates at any time after installation, allowing the home to be adapted to the homeowner’s taste.

Various mechanisms are also available to add extra functionality or smart home integration. It is in the capabilities and efficiencies that the range has excelled. ‘We want our range to be trusted by electricians, wholesalers and homeowners, so we have constantly improved functionality and performance,’ Mick says.

One important advancement is in integration with connected home ecosystems, specifically integration with Clipsal Wiser™ Smart Home. ‘Iconic has helped electricians move beyond traditional wiring devices into connected home solutions. With Wiser integration, electricians can offer their customers enhanced features.’

In terms of lighting control, the Iconic range allows homeowners to create the perfect ambiance by turning lights on, off, dim or brighten with a smartphone or by voice control. Timers and time scheduled switches are not only efficient but help save on power bills. Push button, rotary and dual function rotary dimmers with push on push off allow homeowners to easily create the lighting they need when they want it.

Since the launch in 2016, the range has constantly evolved through new finishes and aesthetic options.
The Build my Iconic digital tool has been developed to help electricians and homeowners choose their preferred switches and power points.

Another great function is motion sensors—as people move throughout the home lights can automatically turn on and off as needed. Adding multi-way control to staircases, hallways and open plan living areas is a practical option for your clients.

Iconic Outdoor is a robust, dustproof and water-resistant range that was designed for Australian weather conditions. With smart connectivity and a modern design, it will add peace of mind and enhance the overall look and feel of your clients’ outdoor spaces.

The Build my Iconic digital tool has been developed to help electricians and homeowners choose their preferred switches and power points. ‘Start by selecting the wall colour, then the tool allows you to see how the different switch options will look. It simplifies the specification process by allowing electricians to create a list with all the relevant components. Then you can sort by rooms, and the selection can be shared with the clients, builder or project designer,’ Mick says.

Iconic’s growth, diversity and investment in innovation have also had a benefit for electrical wholesalers. ‘We know there will always be customer demand, so our ranges of premium products have expanded over time. What started as a switch has become a platform for smarter homes.’

One important advancement is in integration with connected home ecosystems, specifically integration with Clipsal Wiser™ Smart Home.
Training generates new business opportunities by delivering best-in-class smart home installations.

Educating the industry

Introducing new technology requires more than launching products, it also requires education. ‘Over the past decade we have invested in product training and technical support,’ Mick says. ‘Our training enables residential electricians to differentiate themselves in the marketplace and generate new business opportunities by delivering best-in-class smart home installations.

‘At Schneider Electric, we believe innovation succeeds when people understand how to sell it, install it and benefit from it, which equals confidence.’
