By tackling regional housing shortages head-on, Garraway Developments is providing much-needed homes for key workers in Irymple and leading the way for others to follow.

Amanda Cordner

Sea Salt Marketing

In an industry that builds not just homes but communities, Garraway Developments has long been known for its commitment to quality. Now, through their involvement in the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund (RWAF), Garraway is setting an inspiring example by fast-tracking the construction of 10 homes in Irymple—providing housing solutions in a region that’s rapidly growing but struggling to meet housing demand.

Meeting demand

This project isn’t just another build—it’s part of a larger, critical initiative aimed at addressing the housing crisis faced by workers in the region, particularly healthcare professionals, teachers, and other vital community workers.

For Garraway, this project marks a significant milestone in their commitment to regional growth. As the region expands, the need for accessible housing has become more urgent. This proactive approach is helping to bridge the gap, ensuring that local businesses can attract and retain the skilled workers they need to keep up with the area’s development.

While this project marks a shift from Garraway’s typical focus on custom, high-end homes, it remains consistent with their core values of craftsmanship and attention to detail. The homes in Irymple may be more compact than usual, but the team has ensured they meet the same high standards of quality for which they are known.

Ben Garraway, Director of Garraway Developments, explains, ‘While these homes are designed to serve a broader community purpose, we’ve still ensured that they meet the same high standards we pride ourselves on in every project. These homes may be more compact, but the quality is the same.’

The homes in Irymple will provide housing solutions in a region that is struggling to meet housing demand.
The Mildura region has seen rapid growth, with new childcare centres and essential services opening in response to the increasing demand.

Making a difference

The Mildura region has seen rapid growth, with new childcare centres and essential services opening in response to the increasing demand. But with this growth comes the challenge of housing workers who keep these services running smoothly.

Garraway’s work here demonstrates how builders can be directly involved in solving the housing crisis while simultaneously contributing to the local economy. These 10 homes will not only provide stable living options for workers but also support the local businesses that rely on them.

The homes while compact, are built with the same quality as Garraway’s custom builds.
The need for accessible housing had become more urgent in the area.

This is a project that aligns with Garraway’s deep investment in the future of the region they’ve always called home, and through projects like this, they are helping to shape the future of regional Victoria.

The team takes great pride in supporting regional liveability—making quality housing accessible, strengthening the workforce, and creating thriving communities.

This project is about more than fulfilling a contract—it’s about building homes with purpose and leaving a lasting, positive mark on the communities they serve. Their long-standing commitment to accessible housing is driving their business forward, demonstrating that, when executed correctly, projects like this can lead to more opportunities, stronger relationships, and a brighter future.

Ben says, ‘This project is exactly what we stand for: building with purpose and leaving a lasting, positive impact on the community we serve.’
