'This wasn’t about compromise. It was about showing how thoughtful design can elevate a narrow footprint into something special,' says Director Danny Giorgi.
Built during the difficult COVID-19 time, the team were able to capitalise on their supplier relationships to keep the build going. Danny is most proud of how the team were able to push the planning parameters to ensure the narrow block reached its full potential and a feeling of space. ‘By crafting vertical double-height volumes, raked ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass walls, the illusion of space and experience of grandeur is achieved.’
The home’s rear steps down to enhance openness and flow, while high-end materials – including natural stone, polished plaster and timber – bring warmth and refinement throughout.
There’s a rhythm to the way this home moves,' Danny explains.
'From the moment you walk in, there’s light, scale, texture – everything is designed to lead you through the space intuitively.'
Giorgi’s vertically integrated model played a key role in achieving this level of quality. With architecture, interior design and construction all in-house, the team maintained cohesion from concept to completion. Inside, the cabinetry, floating staircase, underfloor heating and seamless indoor-outdoor living offer a complete lifestyle experience.
'When you’re across every phase of the process, you can control the outcome,' Danny says. 'We take full ownership.’
The judges were impressed by the townhouse’s finish, sustainability features and subtle luxury. 'All finishes for individual trades were of an incredibly high standard,' the judging panel noted. 'Attention to detail in tiling and cabinetry – everything was well thought-out and beautifully executed.
With a modern architectural elevation, the townhouse is set back, incorporating natural elements such as stone cladding. It fits into the streetscape beautifully without being ostentatious.’
For the Giorgi firm, the award is a recognition of decades of craft and consistency. 'It’s fantastic to see Western Australian design and construction recognised on the national stage,' says Danny. ‘Our success comes from having our talented team, trades, consultants and clients working together for a unified goal.
They contribute to every detail.'
For a family-run company that has built homes across Perth for more than 30 years, this moment is particularly meaningful. 'We’re a proud WA business, and we never take these wins for granted,' Danny says. 'They reflect our team’s hard work, our client relationships, and our ongoing commitment to excellence. We build homes we’re proud of – and this one is a perfect example of that.’
