The Arte is an award-winning display home that makes an immediate impression. Its front facade is anchored by a dramatic double-height living room, framed by a finely detailed corner arch. This appears, at first glance, to defy structural logic.
Constructed by PROF Homes in Denman Prospect, a new suburb of Canberra, The Arte was designed by Terry Ring of Architects Ring & Associates, with interiors by The Dept. of Design. The home recently won the 2026 HIA Australian Display Home award – with the judges praising the project’s ambition and execution.
‘The corner arch and the double-height glazing demanded an extraordinary level of coordination,’ says PROF Homes’ Qi Zhang. ‘It’s not just about making the feature visually impressive; it had to work structurally, perform thermally and integrate seamlessly with the rest of the building. That required close collaboration between the architect, engineers and our construction team.’
The HIA judges highlighted PROF Homes strong planning and attention to orientation. ‘Living spaces are designed to pick up the views and northern orientation. Details were well thought-out, with careful, confident execution evident across the home.’
Inside, the rear living zone opens up under a pop-up ceiling with highlight windows, drawing in northern light and amplifying spatial volume. Anchored by a bespoke kitchen and joinery by The Dept. of Design, the space showcases a high level of finish.
‘We wanted every part of the home to reflect the same level of care,’ Qi Zhang says. ‘From the joinery to the glazing details, the display home feels both luxurious and practical for everyday living.’
Beyond the main living areas, the home demonstrates a range of spatial ideas intended to inspire prospective clients. The internal staircase doubles as an amphitheatre-style seating element, offering an unconventional use of circulation space.
Elsewhere, custom joinery in areas such as the study adds a level of individuality that reinforces the home’s tailored feel.
The HIA judges described the project as a highly marketable display home that demonstrates the potential for personalisation. ‘Nothing about this project is off the rack,’ they said. ‘Every design decision has been considered and adds value to the offering.’
Ultimately, The Arte demonstrates what can be achieved when design ambition is matched by construction expertise. Its sculptural facade turns heads, but technical discipline by PROF Homes underpins the project’s success.
