The announcement was made at the 2021 HIA CSR Western Australian Housing Awards held at The Westin Perth, with more than 250 HIA members including builders, designers, manufacturers and suppliers coming together to celebrate the outstanding projects showcased from all regions across WA in 2021.
HIA WA Executive Director Cath Hart said this home’s level of innovation immediately caught the judges attention, along with the level of care in tailoring the design to suit the client’s brief.
“The judges applauded the way this home was perfectly design for the site, with its corner aspect overlooking the Swan River, and praised the use of natural colours, textures and materials to create sophistication in what is a spacious family home,” Ms Hart said.
“This praise extended further, with the judges impressed with the immaculate finishes across the outdoor area – every detail was considered in the design – even down to the inclusion of hydronic underfloor heating throughout the home and the alfresco area.
“The visual and practical appeal of the ensuite (WA Bathroom of the Year) is divine in every sense, from the overhead skylight, to the deluxe hanging mirrors, planter boxes and resort style dressing room – Averna Homes have created a truly sensational home that is well deserving of this major recognition.”
The project also won Custom Built Home of the Year and Residential Building Designer of the Year, while Apartment of the Year was won by Dale Alcock Projects and Tallwood Constructions was awarded WA Regional Home of the Year.
Spec Home of the Year was won by Capozzi Building, while Renovation / Addition Project of the Year went to Humphrey Homes.
For the fourth year in a row, Ultimo Constructions won WA HIA Professional Small Builder/Renovator, while HIA Professional Medium Builder/Renovator went to Inspired Homes, and HIA Professional Major Builder awarded to Summit Homes Group.
Ms Hart recognised the added significance of this year’s awards given the widespread industry challenges over the course of the year.
“All winners and finalists across the State have showcased their ability to deliver the highest quality homes for clients, despite ongoing challenges around labour, materials and shipping delays,” Ms Hart said.
“I would like to once again congratulate all finalists and the winners who will now represent WA at the 2022 HIA Australian Housing Awards.”
Former HIA WA Executive Director John Dastlik was awarded HIA Life Membership at the event, recognised for his outstanding service to the association spanning more than 30 years.
John was formally presented this prestigious honour by HIA National President Alwyn Even.
