This year’s award winning projects were unveiled on 23 April before hundreds of industry leaders at the prestigious awards ceremony held as the final night of the 2022 HIA (Housing Industry Association) National Conference on the Gold Coast.
Capozzi Building won HIA Australian Spec Home for a residence that features angular walls, punctuating direct viewpoints from every room. Judges agreed that what was achieved on the site with such a significant drop was outstanding. They also remarked on the innovative suspended garage access. Australian Spec Home is partnered by Stratco.
Averna Homes were named the coveted HIA Australian Outdoor Project for a cascading alfresco area. A curved-wall infinity-edge pool is undoubtedly an impressive feature of the outdoor project. The category is partnered by James Hardie.
Webb & Brown-Neaves won HIA Australian Display Home, partnered by ActronAir. The multi-generational home encompasses four bedrooms and a self-contained unit with private access. It features ecological materials, climate-responsive design, energy and water efficiency, water-wise landscaping and advanced technologies.
Building Development Group Constructions and Sana Living won HIA Australian Specialised Housing. The purposefully designed, functional and responsive home cleverly meets the care needs of people with significant functional impairment or very high support requirements. The category is partnered by Merlin Garage Door Openers.
JW Constructions (Qld) won the highest award at the 2022 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards being named the HIA-CSR Australian Home of the Year for a skillfully designed home that is perfectly positioned to take advantage of a spectacular river frontage.
At the heart of the home is the central courtyard and north-facing swimming pool. Submerged views can be enjoyed from the lower level rumpus area and the temperature-controlled wine cellar.
The main bedroom has a lush private garden and privacy screens cantilevered over the courtyard. The joinery throughout the home has been crafted so expertly, it’s seamless. The residence is fitted with the latest technology and automation system and a self-sustained battery generator. The home also won HIA Australian Custom Built Home, partnered by Beacon Lighting.
HIA’s Managing Director Graham Wolfe said the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards recognise the best in Australia’s residential building industry.
“HIA is committed to recognising the outstanding achievements of our members. The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards allow us to acknowledge the skill and commitment of our members who excel in building exceptional homes, kitchens and bathrooms and have highly successful businesses.
“The workmanship of Award winners is exceptional; demonstrated in projects that push the boundaries in design and innovation. It is my absolute pleasure to congratulate each winner for their hard work and commitment to excellence.
“My congratulations also goes to our future tradespeople – our apprentices – who strive to be the best in all their pursuits. And to the professional builders and business partners who are ahead of the game in customer service, design and innovation, building quality and business practices,” Mr Wolfe added.
The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards are the ultimate platform to showcase the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers. Winners are selected from state-based finalists, with awards in 23 separate categories including Professional Builders, display home, apprentice, bathrooms and kitchens (see full list below).
