Hudson Ridge Builders win 2022 HIA Western Victoria Home of the Year Award

Media release
Stunning homes from across western Victoria honoured at 2022 HIA Awards.

Hudson Ridge Builders has won the prestigious 2022 HIA Western Victoria Home of the Year award for an outstanding custom-built home in St Leonards.

The result was announced at the 2022 HIA Western Victoria Regional Housing Awards, held at the RACV Resort in Torquay on Friday 9 September.

Key to the client brief for this project was full wheelchair access within a home that is “built with absolute sophistication”. In the eyes of HIA’s judges, the home absolutely delivers on both fronts.

Across three storeys the home maximises natural light, ventilation and stunning bay views. The home boasts five bedrooms, four living spaces, three bathrooms, two powder rooms, a lift and a rooftop terrace. All internal and external features are wheelchair-accessible, and durable weather-resistant materials mean the home will stand the test of time in its beachside location.

“Hudson Ridge Builders have delivered an absolutely outstanding home for their client,” says Fiona Nield, HIA Regional Executive Director. “Their attention to detail is evident throughout, and HIA congratulates the Hudson Ridge team on this achievement.”

In addition to 2022 HIA Northern Victoria Home of the Year, this project also won Hudson Ridge Builders the Custom Built Home of the Year and Custom Built Home $1 million - $1.5 million.

Other builders who were recognised on the night include:

  • Kre8 Living, who took out the Display Home of the Year, Display Home $500,001 - $750,000 and Residential Design awards with their display home “The Reef” in Torquay.
  • Cromer Builders, who received Renovation/Addition Project of the Year and Renovation/Addition Project up to $500,000 honours for an Ocean Grove renovation.
  • Furtulla Constructions, winners of the Spec Home of the Year and Spec Home over $500,001 award for their build in Highton.
  • Glenvill Homes, who won the Kitchen of the Year, Bathroom of the Year and Laundry awards for their Linear Form show home in Fyansford.
  • Signature Homes Geelong won the Townhouse/Villa Development award for a Barwon Heads townhouse build.

Carlisle Homes, Claytons Alfresco, Enso Homes, Geelong Homes, Hamlan Homes, Lifestyle Builders Geelong, Metricon Homes, Oasis Building Group, Simonds Homes and South West Majestic Homes were also winners on the night.

“The HIA Awards are a showcase of the best of the best in the residential building industry, and of the absolutely outstanding quality of work done by HIA members” says Ms Nield. “The homes recognised in the 2022 HIA Western Victoria Regional Housing Awards are exceptional, and HIA congratulates all of the winners and finalists.”
