The duplex by Futureflip won HIA Australian Townhouse / Villa Development, partnered by Brickworks. The judges commented the development “embraces the beauty of its location but also withstands its abrasive coastal environment.”
From the tactile, organic beauty of the limestone feature walls and exposed Victorian-Ash ceilings to the cedar-lined concealed garages and recycled brick, all materials were chosen to create high-performing, durable homes requiring little upkeep.
HIA Jim Brookes Australian Apprentice winner Bethany Mercieca has a strong work ethic and dedication to her craft with host Blue Eco Homes. She has built meaningful relationships with co-workers and has excellent problem-solving skills; showing that her level of competency is well above her apprentice level. Catherine de Meur Interiors won HIA Australian Bathroom Design, partnered by HIA Business Solutions, and is congratulated for a unique and dramatic bathroom which included classic curves, cleverly layered light sources and brass accents.
K2 Built won the HIA Australian Apartment of the Year, partnered by Toyota for Business, for a spectacular boutique apartment which combines state-of-the-art luxury with tranquil harbourside living. The dwelling boasts natural stone floors which complement the meticulously crafted timber joinery, along with a dramatically oversized marble fireplace.
Tasmania’s Lane Group Construction won the highest residential building award bestowed each year, winning the 2023 HIA-CSR Australian Home of the Year for a spectacular cliff-hugging property anchored to its windswept, bushland location by heavyset stone pavilions and described by HIA judges as ‘a once-in-a-lifetime build for Tasmania’.
An abundance of floor-length glass windows create a serene atmosphere for the owners and their guests to enjoy, connecting them to the magnificent, rugged coastline of the Derwent River from all public and private living areas.
The home also won HIA Australian Custom Built Home, partnered by ActronAir.
