NSW wins six national residential building awards

NSW wins six national residential building awards

Media release
An oceanfront duplex development which offers high-end resort style living on the NSW South Coast was amongst the winners from NSW recognised at the 2023 HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards on 20 May.

The duplex by Futureflip won HIA Australian Townhouse / Villa Development, partnered by Brickworks.  The judges commented the development “embraces the beauty of its location but also withstands its abrasive coastal environment.”

From the tactile, organic beauty of the limestone feature walls and exposed Victorian-Ash ceilings to the cedar-lined concealed garages and recycled brick, all materials were chosen to create high-performing, durable homes requiring little upkeep.

HIA Jim Brookes Australian Apprentice winner Bethany Mercieca has a strong work ethic and dedication to her craft with host Blue Eco Homes. She has built meaningful relationships with co-workers and has excellent problem-solving skills; showing that her level of competency is well above her apprentice level. HIA Australian Apprentice is partnered by Stratco.

Hudson Homes was named the coveted HIA Australian Professional Medium Builder / Renovator. Hudson Homes is 100 per cent Australian owned and approaching ten years in business. The distinctly successful business has refined their processes to achieve a high level of performance across all departments, while providing exceptional customer service and satisfaction. The category is partnered Companion Systems.

Jenny Matek of AM Bathrooms + Projects was named the winner of HIA Australian Small Business Management. Jenny’s passion for creating beautiful homes is matched by her design flair, personable manner, and organisation skills. The category is partnered by HIA Insurance Services.

Catherine de Meur Interiors won HIA Australian Bathroom Design, partnered by HIA Business Solutions, and is congratulated for a unique and dramatic bathroom which included classic curves, cleverly layered light sources and brass accents.

K2 Built won the HIA Australian Apartment of the Year, partnered by Toyota for Business, for a spectacular boutique apartment which combines state-of-the-art luxury with tranquil harbourside living. The dwelling boasts natural stone floors which complement the meticulously crafted timber joinery, along with a dramatically oversized marble fireplace.

Tasmania’s Lane Group Construction won the highest residential building award bestowed each year, winning the 2023 HIA-CSR Australian Home of the Year for a spectacular cliff-hugging property anchored to its windswept, bushland location by heavyset stone pavilions and described by HIA judges as ‘a once-in-a-lifetime build for Tasmania’.

An abundance of floor-length glass windows create a serene atmosphere for the owners and their guests to enjoy, connecting them to the magnificent, rugged coastline of the Derwent River from all public and private living areas.

The home also won HIA Australian Custom Built Home, partnered by ActronAir.

HIA Managing Director Graham Wolfe said the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards recognise the best in Australia’s residential building industry.

“HIA is committed to recognising the outstanding achievements of our members. The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards allow us to acknowledge their skill and their commitment to quality in design, material selection and construction. Our Awards’ program brings together members who excel in building exceptional homes, kitchens and bathrooms and run highly successful businesses.

“HIA Award winners build with exceptional workmanship; demonstrated in projects that push the boundaries in design and innovation. It is my absolute pleasure to congratulate each winner for their hard work and commitment to excellence,” Mr Wolfe added.

The HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards are the ultimate platform to showcase the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers. Winners are selected from state-based finalists, with awards in 23 separate categories. The Awards are partnered by leading building products company CSR.
