Builders from the region will celebrate the achievements of the local industry over the past twelve months, and also acknowledge the past two decades since the formation of the Wagga Branch of HIA.
“The Riverina housing awards are start of a journey than can lead entrants through to the Australian Housing Awards, which are held in May 2025,” said Greg Weller, HIA Executive Director ACT/Southern NSW.
“The HIA awards program recognises quality workmanship and innovative design in residential building. Historically, Riverina builders have gone on to perform well at the ACT and Southern NSW awards, which is the pathway to the national program, and we are looking forward to seeing this year’s finalists and winners on Friday.
Local Wagga Branch Chair Martin Keogh said "that to win an award through HIA, which is judged by a panel of your peers, is a great honour.
“Builders and designers take great pride in their work and look forward to the opportunity to put our projects out there in front of others from the industry. It is great to see how your work compares and to receive feedback from your peers.
“The awards are also an excellent chance to see what others are doing and celebrate what the whole industry is about,” said Mr Keogh.
The 2024 HIA Riverina Housing Awards will be held at the Wild Vine in Oura, on Friday 13 September, commencing 6.30pm.

“Australia’s population reached 27.4 million by the end of 2024, up by 445,900 people, or 1.7 per cent for the year,” stated HIA Senior Economist, Tom Devitt.
The Tasmanian election that no-one wanted to have is in full swing, and while the limited campaign period is unlikely to provide the usual platform to promote key policies and reforms, HIA is calling on both major parties to prioritise housing policies given the significant challenges across the state.
“Our dated and complex planning system is littered with speed bumps that could easily be removed”, said Brad Armitage, HIA NSW Executive Director.
“The Victorian government’s proposal to update home building contract laws to make them fit for use in the 21st century is welcomed by HIA,” stated HIA Executive Director, Keith Ryan.
