Victorian builder recognised at national sustainability awards

Media release
Victorian sustainable builder Samssons Projects won HIA Australian GreenSmart Multi Dwelling Development for a carbon-neutral, 8-star dual-occupancy project in Melbourne’s inner North.

The win was announced at the prestigious 2025 HIA Australian GreenSmart Awards announced today in Sydney.

The development delivers energy-efficient, all-electric living without compromising comfort or performance.

Each home is designed for long-term liveability, featuring passive solar orientation, thermally broken double glazing, airtight wraps, and high-performance insulation. Rooftop solar, heat pump hot water, and EV readiness support net-zero energy goals, while low-carbon materials like fly ash concrete and FSC-certified timber reduce embodied emissions.

Smart zoning, rainwater reuse, mature landscaping, and breathable building wraps elevate comfort and resilience. Backed by life cycle analysis and a NatHERS 8-star rating, the homes are built on data, not guesswork.

HIA GreenSmart Australian Multi Dwelling Development is partnered by Toyota for Business.

Progressive Building from NSW won the HIA Australian GreenSmart Home of the Year for a standout Sydney renovation which proves that uplifting existing housing stock can deliver big on sustainability, comfort, and design.

The home also won HIA Australian GreenSmart Renovation / Addition Project, partnered by CSR.

HIA Managing Director Jocelyn Martin said the HIA Australian GreenSmart Awards set the benchmark for the latest in environmental design excellence and sustainable building practices.

“Consumer demand for practical, affordable and durable environmental solutions for residential housing is more evident now than ever before. Our GreenSmart Awards highlight HIA members who excel at delivering year-round comfortable homes into the market.

“We are dedicated to recognising excellence in environmentally focussed design, innovation and construction.

“Each winner and finalist is congratulated for achieving success at a national level,” concluded Ms Martin.

Clipsal by Schneider Electric, partner of the HIA Australian GreenSmart Home category, are creators of home electrical products and solutions to enable technology for an ever-changing world.

HIA Australian GreenSmart Awards recognise the best in sustainable housing with Award winners and finalists making a positive difference to the environment by building energy efficient and comfortable homes.
