Design and craftsmanship shine at annual Awards

Media release
The winners of the 2025 Housing Industry Association (HIA) and Interior Design Association (IDA) Queensland Interior Design and Brisbane Kitchen & Bathroom Awards have been announced at a ceremony in Brisbane.

“These awards recognise the skill and professionalism of our members, and their commitment to delivering interior projects with the highest standard of workmanship and innovative design,” said HIA Qld Executive Director Mike Roberts.

“Nights such as the HIA + IDA Queensland Interior Design and Brisbane Kitchen & Bathroom Awards are a wonderful occasion for this sector of the residential building industry to come together and recognise the great achievements from the past twelve months across a range of categories and projects.

“Being judged to be worthy for an award by a panel of your peers is one of the great accolades that an industry professional can receive.“

“We’re extremely proud of the work being produced by HIA members and congratulate all the winners and finalists. We are also grateful to the partners who support this vitally important industry,” concluded Mr Roberts.

The results were announced in front of an audience of leading residential builders, designers and manufacturers at Lightspace, in Brisbane.

2025 HIA Brisbane Bathroom Design

Winner: Stylemaster Homes

The luxurious winning bathroom showcases a sophisticated response to the home’s curved architecture, with a standout layout that seamlessly integrates form and function. A curved wall elegantly encloses both the toilet and shower, while the round freestanding bathtub takes centre stage as a striking design feature. The use of materials is impressive and thoughtful creating a calming, spa-like ambiance.

2025 HIA Brisbane Bathroom of the Year

Winner: Varian Construction

This unique and eclectic bathroom blends tradition with innovation. A built-in soaking tub replaces the standard freestanding option, creating a calm, immersive bathing experience. Rich green tiles, warm timber tones and brushed metal fixtures echo the quiet elegance of a traditional Japanese bathhouse. Craftsmanship is evident in the precise tiling and detailing, while a water reuse system highlights a forward-thinking approach to sustainability.

2025 HIA Brisbane Kitchen Design

Winner: Darren James - Design + Construct

Located at the heart of the open-plan layout of the home, the kitchen features fully integrated appliances concealed behind custom joinery for a clean, uncluttered look. Every detail, from joinery to material selection, is executed with precision, resulting in a kitchen that’s both practical and visually resolved.

2025 HIA Brisbane Kitchen of the Year

Winner: BBH Projects

A standout feature of this winning kitchen is the extensive use of Australian and salvaged recycled timbers, paired with high-spec fixtures and richly veined stone. The joinery is meticulously detailed, integrating seamlessly with the architectural language of the home. The kitchen island extends into a custom dining table, reinforcing its central role in daily life and entertaining.

2025 HIA Queensland Residential Interior Design

Winner: Mactech Constructions

Set against the boldness of its brutalist façade, the interior approach of this home embraces a raw, organic material palette designed to soften and ground the experience from within. Defined by curiosity, intuition and a strong sense of cohesion across architecture and construction, the result is a layered interior experience that balances retreat with adventure.
