Announced at the 2025 HIA Tasmanian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards on 18 October at Hobart’s Hotel Grand Chancellor, the win highlights CWD’s signature “Mark of Excellence” and its commitment to quality, detail, and innovation.
HIA Tasmania Executive Director Benjamin Price said, “the Nebraska Residence is a masterclass in design and detail. It’s a home that doesn’t just sit in its environment – it belongs to it.”
Perched on coastal dunes, the home features custom Tasmanian oak joinery, handmade Moroccan tiles, brushed brass tapware, and bespoke bunk beds – each element crafted to reflect both beauty and durability.
Founded in 2011 by Managing Director Luke de Vries, CWD has grown into one of Tasmania’s most respected builders, known for its integrity, innovation, and collaborative approach.
The 2025 HIA Tasmanian Home of the Year is proudly partnered by Brickworks Building Products.
“These awards are a great opportunity to recognise innovative design in housing and this is certainly a standout design. I congratulate Construction with Destiny for taking out this award tonight with such a creative and environmentally appropriate design,” commented Minister for Housing and Planning, The Hon Kerry Vincent MLC.
“The need for thinking outside the square with housing solutions has never been more pressing, and I look forward to working with industry to find new ways to deliver homes that best meet the needs of Tasmanians,” Minister Vincent concluded.

JOSCON Tasmania, recognised across four categories including Display Home of the Year and Project Home of the Year, underscoring their consistent delivery of high-quality, well-resolved residential projects.
Lawless Wagner Builders, winners of Apartment of the Year and Custom Built Home $750,000–$1.5 million, showcasing versatility across residential types.
Axis Homes Tas, awarded Custom Built Home up to $750,000 and GreenSmart Sustainable Home, highlighting their focus on affordability and sustainability.
Merlin Constructions, with wins in Bathroom of the Year up to $50,000, Kitchen over $50,000, and Heritage Renovation of the Year, demonstrating excellence in both modern and heritage spaces.
Turner Plus, recognised for Custom Built Home $1.5 million–$2 million and the People’s Choice Home of the Year, reflecting both industry and public acclaim.
Clever Design, in collaboration with Woodhams Builders, took out Renovation/Addition Project of the Year, Renovation/Addition over $700,000, and Kitchen Design, showcasing a design-led approach to transformation.
Cunic Homes, awarded for Residential Design and Residential Interior Design, reinforcing their reputation for cohesive, client-focused spaces.
Simon Rossiter Building, named Emerging Builder, signalling a strong future in Tasmania’s residential construction sector.
