Smart home wins HIA Northern Territory Home of the Year

Media release
McT Design & Construction was named the 2025 HIA Northern Territory Home of the Year winner for a home featuring luxurious finishes, a thoughtful U-shaped design, smart automation, and seamless blend of style, comfort and practicality.

The result was announced in front of an audience of Northern Territory’s leading residential builders, designers and manufacturers at the 2025 HIA Northern Territory Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards announced at Mindil Beach Casino Resort.

HIA Northern Territory Executive Director, Luis Espinoza said, “The Home of the Year is a true showcase of what makes Territory building so impressive — cleverly executed design, exceptional workmanship, and a seamless blend of style and practicality. This home delivers on every level, from the way it flows for family living to the integration of smart automation and refined detailing. It reflects the skill, creativity, and dedication of our local industry, and we are proud to recognise it as the Territory’s best for 2025.”

The 2025 HIA Northern Territory Home of the Year is partnered by Territory Timber & Hardware.

“This is an extraordinary example of the remarkable quality and workmanship available in the Northern Territory and is a great testament to the vision and skill of McT Design & Construction,” said Mr Espinoza.

HIA recognised further outstanding projects and businesses on the night:

Beare Homes won 2025 HIA Northern Territory Bathroom of the Year for an ensuite with a well-considered design to maximise every inch of space. The open layout and textured finishes create a calm and inviting retreat, while the wraparound double shower and dual basins deliver both luxury and practicality. Judges praised the balance of relaxation, sophistication, and craftsmanship throughout the space. HIA Northern Territory Bathroom of the Year is partnered by Reece Group.

4Kitchens won 2025 HIA Northern Territory Kitchen of the Year for masterfully combining style, efficiency and practicality. Judges praised the bold finishes and timber ceiling for their sophistication and warmth, as well as the concealed butler’s pantry with smart inclusions like built-in fridges. Despite a compact footprint, the design delivers exceptional storage, seamless workflow, and thoughtful detailing, resulting in a space that is both striking and highly functional. HIA Northern Territory Kitchen of the Year is partnered by HIA Insurance Services.

Mr Espinoza further commented, “This year’s award winners reflect the extraordinary talent, dedication and creativity of our Territory builders, designers, and trades.

“Each project highlights the remarkable quality of workmanship available locally and the innovation that continues to drive our industry forward.

“We congratulate all of the winners and finalists for setting such a high standard and showcasing the very best of residential construction in the Northern Territory.”
