NSW wins eight awards at national housing awards

Media release
NSW builders had an outstanding night at the 2026 HIA Australian Housing Awards, held on 18 April on the Gold Coast, taking home eight prestigious national titles in front of an audience of industry leaders and home building consumers. The event is proudly partnered by CSR.

Blue Eco Homes, a family-owned construction company in the Blue Mountains, won HIA Australian Professional Small Builder/Renovator. With a deep commitment to ethical building practices, they’ve earned a strong reputation for leading the way in construction, specialising in sustainable new builds and renovations. This category is partnered by Companion Systems.

Better Built Homes won HIA Australian Professional Medium Builder/Renovator for the second consecutive year. Recognised as a leading builder, the company is known for its commitment to quality and client satisfaction. Its approach is driven by a belief in making the building journey rewarding for clients, supported by a strong team, disciplined financial management and a culture of integrity. This category is partnered by Companion Systems.

Clover Homes won HIA Australian Specialised Housing for a purpose-built home that has been intentionally designed to foster independence, meaningful engagement and genuine comfort for individuals living with dementia. With a domestic scale layout, the residence provides warmth and familiarity while ensuring residents receive personalised, 24/7 support. This category is partnered by Merlin Garage Door Openers.

HIA Australian Spec Home was won by Sekisui House Australia. The five-bedroom home with Blue Mountains views blends precision craftsmanship and sustainable design. Light filled living spaces, private bedroom wings, wellness amenities and Net Zero performance create a refined, energy positive residence that redefines contemporary suburban living. The category is partnered by Stratco.

Futureflip won HIA Australian Custom Built Home partnered by Bondor and HIA Australian People’s Choice Home partnered by CSR for a three storey forever home. Set high above the coastline the home combines panoramic ocean views with exceptional engineering. Embedded into a steep rock shelf, it features expansive glazing, a sculptural stair and a rooftop skybox, all supported by a six-bore hole geothermal system powering efficient, year-round comfort. HIA Australian People’s Choice Home is the only category chosen by the Australian public.

Sarah Starbuck won HIA Jim Brookes Australian Apprentice for her exceptional work ethic; consistently demonstrating focus, dedication, and a proactive attitude. She's quick to take initiative on site, actively supporting the team and approaching even the most demanding tasks with determination. Sarah’s strengths and potential represent the future of the building industry. The category is partnered by Stratco.

Micrah Projects won HIA Australian Townhouse Development for a landmark coastal residence showcasing artistic flair, contemporary elegance and luxury finishes, delivered despite complex below-street engineering constraints. The project exemplifies exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous detail, setting a new benchmark in high-end coastal construction. This category is partnered by Innova.

Queensland’s Mactech Constructions was awarded the industry’s highest honour, winning the 2026 HIA Australian Home of the Year title. Perched on one of the Gold Coast’s most exposed cliff edges, the five-level residence artfully resolves extreme site conditions into a refined vertical home, complete with wellness retreat, rooftop pool and helipad. Precision detailing, acoustic separation and integrated services deliver a robust yet elegantly crafted coastal landmark. HIA Australian Home of the Year is partnered by CSR.

HIA Managing Director Jocelyn Martin congratulated the 2026 HIA Australian Housing Awards winners and praised their remarkable achievements.

“HIA is committed to recognising the outstanding achievements and talent amongst our members. The HIA Australian Housing Awards allow us to acknowledge winners for their skill and commitment to quality construction, design and material selection.

“The winning projects redefine what's possible in terms of innovation; they’re setting new benchmarks for the industry.

“It’s not only outstanding homes we’ve recognised tonight; we’ve also acknowledged remarkable members who are excelling in business management in our Professional Builder Awards, along with our Emerging Builder from Western Australia and our exceptional apprentices.

"It is my absolute pleasure to congratulate each winner for their commitment to excellence," Ms Martin concluded.

The HIA Australian Housing Awards are the ultimate platform to showcase the talents of the nation’s top builders and designers. Winners are selected from state-based finalists, with awards in 24 separate categories. The Awards are partnered by leading building products company CSR.
