Attwood Builders wins HIA Northern Victoria Home of the Year

Media release
Attwood Builders has won the 2026 HIA Northern Victoria Home of the Year award for an outstanding custom built home in Yarrawonga.

The result was announced in front of an audience of Northern Victoria’s leading residential builders, designers and manufacturers at the Sebel Yarrawonga.

The winning project is a Mediterranean-inspired two-storey home that makes the most of a compact allotment and the site’s stunning views of Lake Mulwala.

Attwood Builders has embraced the client’s request for natural finishes and flowing curves throughout – from the façade and internal walls to the curved kitchen island bench and alfresco arches at the rear.  And despite being on a block only 10.5 metres wide, the home boasts four bedrooms, three bathrooms and multiple living spaces, all luxuriously appointed.

Examples of the builder’s craftsmanship and attention to detail are on full display throughout the home.  The judges were also impressed with the light, open feeling achieved within the home, with skylights and a void above the staircase bringing abundant natural light into the downstairs kitchen and living area.

“This is a timeless, elegant and beautifully-finished home, and is a great testament to the skill of the Attwood Builders team,” said HIA Victoria Executive Director Keith Ryan.
HIA’s Northern Victoria Home of the Year award is partnered by Tradelink.

HIA recognised further outstanding projects and businesses on the night:

  • Albury-based Peter Bowen Homes swept the display home categories, and won Display Home of the Year for the spectacular coastal-themed Cove display in Thurgoona.
  • Cleal Constructions won Renovation/Addition Project of the Year and GreenSmart Sustainable Home with two projects in their home town of Wangaratta.
  • Southern Vale Homes from Albury won both the Project Home of the Year and Spec Home of the Year awards with standout homes in Kyabram and Leneva.
  • Mildura-based Garraway Developments won six awards in total, including Bathroom of the Year and Townhouse Development.
  • LA Smith Studio from Albury won five awards including Kitchen of the Year, Outdoor Kitchen and Laundry.

Other winners on the night included Evolv Homes, GoForth Building, R&R Quality Homes, Second Generation Builders and Todd Newman Builders.

Mr Ryan concluded, “We’re extremely proud of the work being produced by HIA members and congratulate all the winners and finalists. We are also grateful to the partners who support this vitally important industry.”

HIA thanks its awards partners Tradelink, the Building and Plumbing Commission, Dahlsens, HIA Insurance Services, Origin, Project Windows and Doors, and Spectrum Group.
