The winning home is a striking contemporary coastal retreat, that reimagines the classic Australian beach shack. Through sculptural concrete forms, organic curves and a seamless connection to nature, the home is thoughtfully designed as a sanctuary for rest and rejuvenation.

The result was announced in front of an audience of over two hundred leading residential builders, designers and manufacturers at the 2026 HIA Northern NSW Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards held at The Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour.
HIA recognised further outstanding projects and businesses on the night, including Custom Built Home of the Year, awarded to Bass Building Services, and partnered by Geotruss. Perched on a dramatic clifftop overlooking the ocean, this fully self-sufficient residence combines strip-plank off-form concrete, galvanised steel and locally sourced spotted gum to create a refined yet resilient response to its exposed environment. Thoughtfully detailed throughout, it features bespoke timber joinery, high-performance glazing and enduring materials designed to weather gracefully into the landscape.
