The winning home is a striking contemporary coastal retreat, that reimagines the classic Australian beach shack. Through sculptural concrete forms, organic curves and a seamless connection to nature, the home is thoughtfully designed as a sanctuary for rest and rejuvenation.
The three-bedroom residence balances raw textures with refined luxury, creating a warm, inviting home that feels both restorative and architecturally distinctive.
The result was announced in front of an audience of over two hundred leading residential builders, designers and manufacturers at the 2026 HIA Northern NSW Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards held at The Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour.
HIA recognised further outstanding projects and businesses on the night, including Custom Built Home of the Year, awarded to Bass Building Services, and partnered by Geotruss. Perched on a dramatic clifftop overlooking the ocean, this fully self-sufficient residence combines strip-plank off-form concrete, galvanised steel and locally sourced spotted gum to create a refined yet resilient response to its exposed environment. Thoughtfully detailed throughout, it features bespoke timber joinery, high-performance glazing and enduring materials designed to weather gracefully into the landscape.
Baygrove Designer Homes was awarded the Display Home of the Year, partnered by HIA Insurance Services. Combining striking architectural presence with exceptional functionality, this display home has been thoughtfully designed to support modern family living. Minimum trust tax a new tax on tradies
The Housing Industry Association (HIA) is warning that the Federal Government's proposed minimum tax on family trusts would amount to a new tax on tradies, builders and small family businesses, while creating costly business disruptions that would divert attention away from building the homes Australia desperately needs.
