Lowe Design & Build wins HIA Eastern Victoria Home of the Year

Media release
Lowe Design & Build has won the 2026 HIA Eastern Victoria Home of the Year award for an outstanding custom built home in Portsea.

The result was announced in front of an audience of leading residential builders, designers and manufacturers at the RACV Cape Schanck Resort.

All throughout the winning home, the Lowe Design & Build team has demonstrated a careful eye for detail and an outstanding commitment to craftsmanship.  The ground floor is defined by its seamless indoor-outdoor connection: the alfresco flows via expansive stacker sliding doors into the dining and kitchen, then through to a sunken lounge.

A private master suite is located at the rear, while the upper floor features three further bedrooms, two bathrooms and a retreat.  The home’s helical staircase was noted by the judges as a standout example of the builder's craftsmanship - its polished plaster finish is exceptional, and a circular Velux skylight above introduces abundant natural light.

The home’s luxurious, earthy material palette is beautifully matched to the coastal surrounds, making this a home that is sure to be enjoyed for generations to come.  Lowe Design & Build also won the Residential Design award for the same home.

“This is an outstanding, sophisticated home, and a fantastic example of luxury coastal living,” said HIA Victoria Executive Director Keith Ryan.

HIA’s Eastern Victoria Home of the Year award is partnered by Tradelink.

HIA recognised further outstanding projects and businesses on the night:

  • Metricon Homes won four awards, including Display Home of the Year for its Artisan 56 display in Rye
  • South Gippsland Homes won multiple awards, including Project Home of the Year for a standout home in Leongatha
  • Frontier Homes won Renovation/Addition Project of the Year for a comprehensive home renovation in Mount Martha
  • Beachstone Homes from Mornington won three awards including Bathroom of the Year for an outstanding project in Mount Eliza
  • Smith & Smith Kitchens also won three awards, including Kitchen of the Year with a stunning art deco project in Emerald
  • Warragul-based Roseleigh Homes won four awards in the custom built home, display home and residential interior design categories.

Other winners on the night included Arkadian Homes, Excelcon, Fairhaven Homes, GJ Gardner Homes Warragul, Glenco Building Group, Mimosa Homes, Prebuilt, Sherridon Homes, Three Eight Building Group, Todd Devine Homes and Virtue Homes.

Mr Ryan concluded, “We’re extremely proud of the work being produced by HIA members and congratulate all the winners and finalists. We are also grateful to the partners who support this vitally important industry.”

HIA thanks its awards partners Tradelink, the Building and Plumbing Commission, Dahlsens, HIA Insurance Services, Origin, Project Windows and Doors, and Spectrum Group.
