The best of the Riverina’s residential building industry were celebrated at the 2026 HIA Riverina Housing Awards in Wagga Wagga this evening.
Jamie Carroll Constructions received the prestigious HIA Riverina Home of the Year for an outstanding 8-star energy-rated home combining sustainable, high-performance living with refined design and quality workmanship.
Designed to provide year-round comfort with minimal energy use, the home features a striking monochrome exterior, twin-gabled form and carefully considered material palette. Close collaboration between the builder and clients ensured every detail balanced thermal performance, functionality and design.
Jamie Carroll Constructions also received GreenSmart Sustainable Home of the Year for the project.
“This is an extraordinary example of the remarkable quality and workmanship available in the Riverina and is a great testament to Jamie Carroll Constructions,” said Geordan Murray, HIA Executive Director – ACT and Southern NSW.
Duncan Construct received the Renovation/Addition of the Year award for thoughtfully transforming a characterful older dwelling into a spacious, functional and contemporary family home. The project included a substantial ground-floor extension, new first-floor living space, a large alfresco area, garage addition and updated roof form, while respecting the character of the original residence.
Kitchen of the Year was awarded to Harrison’s Joinery for a sophisticated and highly functional kitchen designed as the heart of a busy family home. Deep chocolate cabinetry, scalloped overhead cupboards, bronze shadow lines and precision stone detailing are complemented by a generous island and adjoining butler’s pantry.
TG Homes received both Bathroom of the Year and Bathroom Design for a luxurious bathroom featuring four-metre-high ceilings, warm-toned travertine tiles, soft arched doorways and a striking fluted stone bath. The judges recognised the bathroom’s calming colour palette and resort-style feel.
“The Awards celebrated the skills, innovation and professionalism found throughout the Riverina’s residential building industry,” added Mr Murray.
“The quality of this year’s winning projects demonstrates the depth of talent we have across the Riverina.
“From highly energy-efficient homes and carefully integrated renovations to outstanding kitchens and bathrooms, these projects showcase the craftsmanship and attention to detail that HIA members bring to their work.
“Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. Being recognised at the HIA Awards is an outstanding achievement and reflects the commitment of the builders, designers, tradespeople, suppliers and clients involved in bringing each project to life,” Mr Murray concluded.

Modern Methods of Construction require skills evolution, not workforce replacement
The Housing Industry Association (HIA) has welcomed the release of BuildSkills Australia's new report examining the workforce and skills implications of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), saying the findings confirm that innovation in home building can be supported through evolution of existing skills and training pathways rather than wholesale workforce disruption.

“Today's increase in interest rates will further reduce the number of new homes Australia builds at the time when increased supply is the only sustainable solution to the affordability challenge,” stated HIA Senior Economist Tom Devitt.
HIA welcomes recommissioning of Cardup Brickworks
The Housing Industry Association (HIA) has welcomed the Cook Government's support for the recommissioning of the Austral Brickworks facility at Cardup, describing the decision as an important step towards improving building material supply and supporting the delivery of homes and infrastructure across Western Australia.
