“Today is a bad day for business in NSW with the passage of the Digital Work Systems Bill,” said Brad Armitage, HIA NSW Executive Director.

The fundamentals of this Bill; giving unions access to the digital information of every business, is wrong. The claim that this Bill will increase worker safety is absurd.
“The recent HIA Small Business Conditions Survey highlights just how tough conditions are for small businesses in NSW at the moment. This is just another slap in the face to building businesses adding more unnecessary red tape,” added Mr Armitage.
“We are trying to build our way out of a housing crisis, so we need to be doing everything we can to make it easier to do business. The NSW Government has just done the complete opposite.
"It is really disappointing to see that the Bill puts the personal information, intellectual property, customer data and financial records of businesses and their workers at risk with little to no safeguards.
“The NSW branch of the CFMEU was placed under administration for criminal behaviour. The Minns Government just gave them a virtual key to the front door of every building business.
“We will not let up on our advocacy that union overreach into the housing industry has gone too far, and that non-union businesses must be fully exempt from this terrible new law,” concluded Mr Armitage.
