Building approvals slow in July
“Building approvals for new homes declined by 3.6 per cent in the month of July 2026, led by a 4.5 per cent fall in houses, with a 2.4 per cent fall in multi-units,” stated HIA Senior Economist Tom Devitt.
Detached home approvals surge over 37 per cent in Tasmania
New figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show detached house approvals in Tasmania rose 37.8 per cent in the month of July 2026, capping the strongest run of approvals activity the state has seen in years.
