“Community Participation Plans (CPP) are designed to make sure the local community gets to have a say in where and what development happens in their local area. The problem now is that CPPs are different in every council area, and this is confusing for both communities and industry.
“The new statewide CPP improves the planning system by introducing a clear and consistent approach to consultation on development across the state, adding more certainty for communities and industry,” continued Mr Armitage.
“The new CPP also ensures that we are consulting on the big, impactful planning and not sweating the small stuff.
“This move reflects the NSW Government’s commitment to proportionality in planning decision making, which HIA fully applauds.
“HIA looks forward to continuing to work with the NSW Government on further improvements to the planning system that will lead to an upturn in housing delivery, including the expansion of complying development pathways.
“For a long time, the NSW planning system has been a barrier to new housing. It is great to see that this is changing with initiatives like the new statewide CPP. This is good news for families across NSW wanting to buy a new home” concluded Mr Armitage.
