“The Housing Accord has sharpened our focus on opportunities to deliver more housing in the short term, but if we are truly going to tackle the housing supply crisis, we need to plan for the longer term.
“Sydney is one of the greatest cities in the world, so it is really important to have a strong framework to shape its future direction.
“The Plan provides for greater housing diversity and more choice, which reflects the needs and aspirations of the community, and makes provision for a range of housing types.
“Greenfield development continues to be an integral part of the housing mix, and it is essential that there is a clear pipeline of new land releases. Although, the Plan does not identify any new land, it is vital that planning for longer-term greenfield development areas beyond the current precincts starts now,” added Mr Armitage.
“Feasibility must also continue to be at the front and centre as this is critical to getting keys in doors.
“HIA looks forward to working with the NSW Government to deliver new housing of all types across Sydney to provide homes that families want to live and are affordable,” concluded Mr Armitage.
