AS 1428.1:2021 Design for access and mobility, P1: Gral requirements for access - New building work

This Standard provides the minimum design requirements for building work to enable access for people with disabilities. The National Construction Code (NCC) and Disability (Access to Premises – Building) Standards (Premises Standards) refer to this Standard and other Standards as means of compliance with the NCC Deemed-to-Satisfy access provisions.

The Standard contains requirements for – (a) Continuous accessible paths of travel (stairs, ramps, walkways, handrails etc.) and circulation spaces in buildings for people who use wheelchairs;
(b) Accessible facilities for people in wheelchairs and ambulant facilities.

Important considerations

1. Once you open your file it will "lock" to the first computer used to open it. You will only be able to open it using the same device.
2. Australian Standards purchased from HIA are single-user products with a licence granted for individual use only.
3. Australian Standards emailed to other devices will not open on the recipients’ device.
4. You can only print your document twice.
5. Cutting and pasting parts of the standard is prohibited.
