The last few weeks have presented the industry with a number of challenges that have felt very familiar for all the wrong reasons.
We understand that price increases associated with the conflict in the Middle East have been passed on to builders with fixed price contracts, who at this stage have no alternative but to absorb these costs. We are working closely with members and government to better understand the extent of the impact and to identify appropriate ways to provide support where it is needed.
HIA has shared several Member Alerts over the last four weeks which have covered a range of topics including price rises, action taken and supporting information for customers. In case you missed them, these Member Alerts are accessible below:
We will continue to update you as more information comes to hand. If you do have any specific feedback or queries about your own current situation, I encourage you to get in touch. To further support members, a recording of our recent webinar on managing rising costs is now available as part of a practical toolkit.
Finally, on a brighter note, this week is also the HIA National Conference on the Gold Coast, which concludes on Saturday night with the HIA National Housing Awards. Team WA has a great group of representatives making their way across and I want to wish all our finalists the very best of luck.
