What does this mean for building practitioners? It extends the date relevant to some referenced Australian Standards notes and provides the building sector additional time to update test reports based on earlier editions of the relevant standards.
The NCC 2019 and NCC 2019 Amendment 1 contain an expiry date of ‘1 May 2022’ relevant to some notes based on previous editions of a number of referenced Australian Standards. That date was specified with the expectation that the 2022 edition of the NCC would be adopted by states and territories on this date.
However, it was decided to delay the adoption of NCC 2022 until 1 September 2022 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and other impacts affecting the building industry.
