ABCB sanitary facilities calculator

What number of sanitary and other facilities must be provided for in the design & use of Class 2-9 buildings? The ABCB has developed a Sanitary Facilities Calculator to help you calculate what’s needed.

When should you use the Sanitary Facilities Calculator?

The Sanitary Facilities Calculator provides the required number of sanitary facilities needed in a building, including (where applicable) closet pans, wash basins, urinals, showers and baths based on building type and number of occupants. It also helps calculate the required number of accessible unisex sanitary facilities you must provide.

The calculator and information on how to use it can be found on the ABCB website.

How to use the Sanitary Facilities Calculator

Just select the building classification from the dropdown box and then enter the number of occupants the building is designed for. Based on this information, the calculator provides the required number of sanitary facilities, including (where applicable) closet pans, wash basins, urinals, showers and baths.

By also entering the number of building levels and banks of toilets, the calculator will assist in the calculation of the required number of accessible unisex sanitary facilities.

The calculator has supporting notes sourced from Part F2 that are provided to suit the building classification selected. A help guide is available.

The calculator is an MS Excel file created and has been designed for Excel 2013 for Windows 10.
