Changes to NCC 2025 Assessment Methods for Performance Solutions

Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) have changes to the assessment of some Performance Solutions which are proposed to take effect one year after the adoption of NCC 2025.
{{ tag.label }} {{ tag.label }} $vuetify.icons.faTimes

NCC 2025 introduces changes to how some Performance Solutions must be assessed, particularly for structural and fire safety matters. For certain building elements and materials, expert judgement will no longer be accepted as an Assessment Method, meaning solutions will need to rely on more objective verification or comparison pathways to demonstrate compliance.

This resource outlines which Performance Requirements are affected across NCC Volumes One and Two. It also explains when solutions must demonstrate equivalence to Deemed-to-Satisfy provisions or use Verification Method H1V1 for Class 1 buildings. It also details which construction materials are captured by the changes, including timber, steel, concrete and masonry systems.

Understanding what’s changing can help you plan for additional engineering input, documentation and approval considerations. Access practical guidance on how these new assessment rules may affect your design and compliance processes, and when they are expected to take effect.
