NCC 2022 Energy Efficiency Whole of Home explained

Alongside the increased building fabric stringency changes outlined in NCC 2022, a new approach to building services compliance focusing on “whole-of-home” energy use has been introduced.

What is whole-of-home? It’s a new approach to measuring the energy use of new home builds that is a big part of the NCC 2022 changes. You’ll need to take this into consideration once these measures take effect in your state, so it’s important to have a clear understanding of what will be required.

Whole-of-home is basically an “energy budget” for the home’s fixed regulated appliances’ heating and cooling equipment, heated water, lighting, and pool and spa pumps. You’ve got two options for compliance: energy use under the cap, or offset by solar energy generated on site.

This expert-led resource created for Australian builders covers which buildings it applies to, what you need to do to comply, the important considerations and when they kick in around the country. Get a fast understanding of whole-of-home, quickly.
