Required facilities for Class 1 buildings
This resource should be used to understand what the NCC defines Class 1 buildings to be – and how they can be further defined as either Class 1a or Class 1b buildings. It stipulates that both classes of building must be provided with the following private amenities and facilities:
- Kitchen sink and facilities for the preparation and cooking of food
- Bath or shower
- Clothes washing facilities, with at least one washtub and space in the same room for a washing machine
- A closet pan and washbasin.
The resource also summarises the requirements for sanitary compartments as outlined by the NCC so that an unconscious person can be removed from the sanitary compartment.
