Two long service leave schemes exist in WA, both of which contain different entitlements:
An employee is generally entitled to long service leave after 10 years of continuous service with an employer. However, because it’s unusual for an individual to work for the same employer for that length of time, an employee can accrue long service leave based on the length of their service in the construction sector alone.
This resource provides an explanation of which scheme is applicable depending on an individual’s work circumstances. A breakdown is provided in table form of what entitlements apply and when they apply.
Links are also provided to further information on both scheme types.
