HIA Building Women aims to help build an industry where women can thrive. 

Celebrate women in the industry and their achievements, acknowledge gender diversity issues and join our platform for women to contribute and connect with motivational guest speakers at the Building Women’s Luncheon.

Join us for an inspirational afternoon of networking at The Duxton, as we come together to support and empower women in the building industry.

Our guests, regardless of gender, walk away from Building Women events feeling part of a community. A community that brings together the future leaders and innovators of the construction industry as well as offering networking opportunities where you will leave feeling uplifted and inspired.

Speakers

Jenny Edwards

Founder of Light House Architecture & Science

Jenny has a Masters degree in Science and is an ACT licensed Building Energy Efficiency Assessor. She established the energy efficiency consulting business, Scinergy, in 2010, which subsequently won the ACT Sustainable Cities Energy Innovation award for its innovative and scientific approach to improving energy efficiency in residential construction.

She is the founder of Light House Architecture & Science, which has won numerous national and regional HIA GreenSmart awards, including most recently the 2022 HIA ACT/Southern NSW GreenSmart Sustainable Home.

Natasha Stoka

Leading Canberra builder

Regal Homes has been building in the Canberra region since 1973, making it one of a select few that has operated consistently for more than four decades. Over this time the team has built over 2,000 homes.

Natasha is the second generation to lead this family business, and is passionate about both the residential building industry and the Canberra region. As a leading female builder in Canberra, Natasha is looking forward to sharing her insights with guests on International Women’s Day.

Nicole Lawder

ACT Legislative Assembly, Member for Brindabella

Nicole is passionate about making Canberra accessible and inclusive to all, and fights for services such as quality aged care, affordable housing, and a reasonable cost of living for everyone.

She joins HIA on International Women’s Day in her capacity as the Shadow Minister for Women.
