As an Awards judge, you play a deciding role in HIA’s national Awards program. You will gain exposure to the latest design trends, new materials and building innovations. It’s a golden opportunity to share your expertise, get involved and give back. This is your chance to choose the best of the best.
We select a mix of industry experts in different disciplines each year. This includes builders, architects, business owners, designers and kitchen and bathroom specialists. We are dedicated to recruiting a diverse panel to assess the country’s most spectacular properties. Our judges having substantial industry experience is important. However, early career professionals are also invited to become a part of the HIA Awards judging team.
Enter your details in this form and the HIA Awards team will be in touch when putting together our national judging panels. As we need to choose a cross-section of housing professionals for each region, some applicants may not be selected as they don’t complement the job mix in their region. If this is the case, we invite you to apply again the following year.
Each judge will need to visit a range of properties throughout the judging process, which takes place between July and September. The judging period varies depending on the region. Judges will need to commit to a minimum of three days of judging. HIA works diligently to accommodate our judges’ busy schedules.
Awards judges need to be non-biased and comfortable using online technology to score each project. As a representative of HIA, a high standard of decorum is required during judging and the ability to interact professionally with homeowners and entrants.
HIA Awards provide home builders and designers with the opportunity to receive recognition for outstanding projects, as well as showcase their work to the broader industry.
Winners and finalists not only receive extensive media promotion for their business, but they can promote themselves as an industry leader.
The Awards cater for entrants ranging from small family-owned businesses right up to the biggest names in the residential building industry. This covers areas of building construction, quality workmanship, design excellence, sustainability, renovation and innovation, and business professionalism.
At HIA, there are plenty of ways to get involved, give back and make a difference to the future of the building and construction industry.
