Every day across Australia, women are working hard to build the homes of the future. The only limit to what you can do is your imagination.
We are committed to supporting everyone in the residential building industry to build a career that is exciting and challenging. Our Building Women program is just one way we are doing this - with dedicated events, training, mentoring, and awards designed to help you grow your industry networks, to learn, and to be inspired.
Join us for an inspirational afternoon of networking overlooking the iconic Newcastle Beach as we support and empower women in the building industry.
This year we are joined by Louise Azzopardi - Heavy diesel mechanic turned life coach, mentor and industry ambassador. She started her apprenticeship in mechanics at 15 years old. In the years to come she completed her apprenticeship whilst representing Australia at the international Worldskills competition in 2017 placing 4th in the heavy vehicle maintenance category.
Through her professional career, Louise experienced a range of great opportunities that felt out of her comfort zone along with social challenges that led her to reflect on what path she wanted to take in her career. Louise brings these experiences into her training sessions and will help guests reflect on their own challenges and overcoming Imposter Syndrome.
Special guest MC for the event with be Cathy Inglis AM - an experienced materials engineer, technical expert, former university lecturer and National HIA Board Director and led the innovation of building products for major Australian and US building products group Brickworks for more than 25 years. Cathy was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for services to the building and construction industry in 2020 and her detailed product knowledge covers a diverse range of building materials including bricks, precast concrete, masonry, pavers, roof tiles, lightweight facades and prefabricated systems.
This event is not to be missed!

Kerri is an honest and inspirational speaker. Having competed for over 22 years in a sport that she loves, Kerri draws from her success sharing valuable information in areas of communication, goal setting, skill set and achieving excellence.
After overcoming countless challenges and potentially devastating injuries that threatened to end her sporting career, Kerri’s drive to succeed saw her take to the court to win Bronze at the Atlanta Olympics.
