HIA GreenSmart® Professional training is a national course, providing you or your staff with recognised environmental building skills for more sustainable residential design and construction. The HIA GreenSmart program aims to encourage a mainstream application of the benefits of environmentally responsible housing.

You will learn about:

  • Global and local context of sustainable development
  • Thermal performance
  • Passive solar design and natural ventilation
  • Design and operational issues for water and energy efficiency
  • Selection of water and energy-efficient ecologically friendly appliances
  • Lighting
  • Principles of sustainable building
  • Environmental design
  • Marketing sustainable housing to clients

  • a good understanding of English in reading and writing; and communication skills
