This is a guide that breaks down each section of an HIA contract and provides detail on how to complete the contract.

Through the support of HIA’s experienced trainer, you will learn to confidently work your way through the contract and its requirements.

What do I need before I start?

To start this program, you must have:

  • A good understanding of English reading and writing; and communication skills (training is delivered in English);
  • Knowledge of legal terminology of contracts.

What will I learn?

This workshop has been developed with focus on the different contract requirements in different regions, so please ensure you take the location of the training into account before you register.

You will learn about:

  • Confidently complete a standard HIA contract commonly used in the building industry;
  • Interpret important schedules, clauses and conditions;
  • Use and define the legal terminology of contracts;
  • Identify what to look for in residential building contracts and how to prepare a contract correctly;
  • Ask the right questions and translate the building process into the contract

Participants will need to commit 4 hours of face-to-face learning time for this workshop.
